Recently we saw Agyness Deyn in New York sporting the short black hairstyle. Now again, at a screening of ‘An Education’, she wears tousled bed hair in short black – a combination that seems to work.
The stars were out in force last night at the annual MOBO awards. The event always attracts the hippest artists in the world of soul, r n’ b and hip hop.
We check out the hair styles on the night. Who got it right and who looked a fright?

La Toya Jackson
“La Toya’s girly, autumnal, long curls soften her strong jaw line and the rich auburn colour complements her skin tone beautifully.
“For a more youthful feel, I think the cut could be taken up to shoulder length, giving it greater sophistication and extra glitzy glamour!”

Sabrina Washington
“Sabrina is the queen of changing her looks for dramatic affect.
”However, this style lacks balance and is too bulky, swamping Sabrina’s soft features.
“I think she would look fantastic with a short style and some warm chestnut and honey tones, to complement her beautiful complexion.”

Peter Andre
“Peter Andre’s short dark hair and manly unshaven look compliments his skin tone much more than the boyish blonde highlights he used to wear.
“If anything, Peter would look great with a short, dark crop but us girls at Reed Hair love him just the way he is!”

Alexandra Burke
“I love Alexandra’s new image now that it has been sharpened up with a bang-on-trend long graduated bob and a dramatic full blunt fringe.
“Coloured in deep violet tones, Alex looks hot, young and ready for any red carpet occasion. Watch this space, I think Alexandra will be surprising us with many more sizzling looks to come!”

Beverley Knight
“Beverley’s short, choppy and textured bob is a great style for her face shape and looks modern and fresh.
“I think that with some colour work, maybe deep reds and rich auburns, Beverley’s hair would look much glossier and well conditioned. It would also give her cut more definition. No matter what she does though, she always looks fantastic!”

Kelly Rowland
“The girl of forever changing hair styles looks wicked with these long, glossy and healthy looking tresses.
“Kelly is totally experimental with her locks and carries these vampy extensions with style and panache. Does she need another change for the future? Who knows, but by next month I’m sure she will be sporting another sexy look anyway!”

Not known for her understated style, Beth Ditto has recently embraced an array of bright Autumn hair shades to cheer up the gloomy weather.
Beth’s tangerine dream coloured bob popped up at the Mercury Awards along with punky, Toyahesque make-up.
She also recently sported a burnt orange shade which was curly on top and shorter at the sides – an 80s’ style reminiscent of Salt n Pepa in their glory days.
Sticking with the bright theme, the Gossip singer’s latest look is a hot red shade that is snipped into a pretty side-swept crop.
The orange-to-red transition has left Beth watchers guessing – and this latest hair colour is a bright red tone that is just as loud as Beth’s singing voice.
This very bold, bright colour is a very strong look that many couldn’t even attempt to carry off but it looks absolutely great on Beth.
Redheads always turn heads and Beth has gone for an extreme shade that matches her red lippy and warms up her cool skin tone. She might not be as demure as Lily Cole and Florence Welch but her bright style suits her brash image.
Beth is known in the industry for making a statement and having her voice heard, her hair is absolutely no exception. Not one to fade into the background, this colour makes it impossible. She looks fabulous

As temperatures start to cool down, so will hair colour as we head into the autumn/winter season, with cooler, more sophisticated brunettes and blondes. Small adjustments can help women update their look from season to season. When summer comes to a close, cool your client’s shades down – move towards blue or violet, such as platinum blondes, ash browns and plum reds.
So what should the three main colour types be looking for this autumn/winter? Here is a selection of the key looks for blondes, brunettes and redheads.
Blondes

The Trend: Lady Gaga and Agyness Deyn continue to have an influence. Blondes will be flat and beige or cool and icy. The honey, sun-kissed shades from spring/summer will migrate into wintry platinum shade.
Alternatives: Power blondes for autumn/winter 09 take their inspiration from the 80s. Blonde is bold; bright golds, champagne bondes, warm peachy tones and cinnamon beiges work as well as classic pearls and soft creams.
Style Icons: Drew Barrymore, Kate Moss and Paris Hilton
Brunettes

The Trend: Well maintained, expertly conditioned and rich with intense colour molecules, brunettes reflect the light and shine. Multi-tonal, striking all over colour in shades of walnut, teak, sable, mink and tawny tones give hair a fur-like sheen. Colour is luxurious, with glimmers of light catching pigments in rum, claret and brandy tones.
Alternatives: Rich and vibrant, but remaining classic, darker, sold shades will be popular in line with teh block colours we are currently seeing in fashion. All over tinted bases, darker lowlight or slices can be added to create interest while achieving a deep, glossy natural looking colour.
Style Icons: Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie and Eva Longoria
Redheads

The Trend: Reds are high-depth this season, light and sparkling, they are sun-kissed and coppery in tone. Organic shades of russet, coral, peach, strawberry bondes, terracotta, saffron and honey, these warm toned reds complement pale skins and look natural and uncontrived.
Alternatives: The autumn/winter redhead will be more sophisticated, and playful with their shade, with deep red tones adn a few cool, blonde highlights throughout. The red revival is strong but you need to be mindful that only certain skin tones can carry off the fiery, vivid tones. Bold, copper reds are best suited to pale, porcelain skin tones as seen on Coco Rocha and Lily Cole.
Style Icons: Lilly Cole, Julianne Moore and Lindsay Lohan
Following in the footsteps of Kate Moss comes Lily Allen in her latest cover shoot for Elle magazine. Seemingly obsessed with fringed bobbed hairstyles, Lily’s peroxide blonde look is highly reminiscent of the one Kate Moss sported in Interview mag last year.

As far as 2009’s hair trends go, not many have been bold enough to attempt the pixie crop. We have seen many variations of the trend on Victoria Beckham, who rarely shies away from dramatic new hairstyles. She now appears to have started the long process of growing her pixie crop out; and what we’re seeing on her now is a longer crop with a side-swept fringe.

They judge the rising stars of the X Factor but who has the best barnet on the block? Cheryl’s volumous style has been the envy of the other WAGS for a couple of years and Dannii has recently cropped her hair into a versatile bob.

Screen siren Scarlett Johansson can’t get enough of her retro, classic Hollywood styling and she’s come up with three stunning looks in the past month to prove it.
Paul Ramsay, Ramsay and Johnson loves her style. “Scarlett is naturally beautiful and her perfectly balanced features carry off most cuts and colours.”
She went unusually dark for her launch as the new face of fashion brand Mango. With the lengths pulled away from her face and volume to the crown, she looked fresh-faced and pretty. However, Paul isn’t so keen on the colour. “In my opinion, Scarlett with dark hair represses her sensuality,” he says.
Scarlett then turned up at the LA Short Fest, the largest short film festival in the world, back as a blonde and with a side-scraped, volumous style and gold, statement earrings.
Her most recent appearance was at the launch of Dolce & Gabbana make-up where she wore romantic long, blonder waves and a flash of red lippy.
Says Paul: “My favourite is her strawberry blonde waves. the colour adds warmth to her cool skin tone and accentuates her green eyes.”
Whichever is your favourite Scarlett look of the month, Paul admires her versatility. Says Paul: ”From dark mahogany to classic copper and strawberry blonde, Scarlett isn’t afraid to step away from her usual blonde locks.”
We can’t wait to see which styles Scarlet will be sporting next month!
Ultimate blonde babe Paris Hilton can’t get enough of the Redken Blonde Glam range to keep her flowing locks in tip-top condition and maintain her baby-blonde hue.
The heiress loves crystals and glitz so it’s no wonder that she’s drawn to the Crystal Shine Complex that makes up the formula.
It’s made up of grapefruit extract to improve blonde clarity, protein to strengthen hair and crystal mica to enhance shimmer.
The range includes a Blonde Glam shampoo and Blonde Glam conditioner. For pale blondes, there’s Pure Glam Pure Pearl – colour-activating treatment and for multi-tonal blondes, try Blonde Glam Crystal Flash – shine treatment.
