Top Tips for Healthy Winter Skin at Hush Hair & Beauty Salon in Birmingham
The colder winter temperatures and the excesses of December can leave your skin looking dull, dehydrated and prone to spots… so check out our top tips to help you improve your skin’s health.
Moving from the chilly outdoors to the heated indoors can draw moisture from your skin so that it feels tight, dry and itchy. You may also notice red patches appear – perhaps around the nose and on the cheeks – which can be caused by the weakening of your skin’s natural protective barrier which lets in environmental aggressors.
The good news is that we can prescribe some fantastic Dermalogica facials and body treatments which can treat your skin.
Your Hush Beauty Therapist will analyse your skin before suggesting the correct treatment.

TIP 3: Drink Plenty of Water to Hydrate & Improve Skin’s Appearance
It is said that drinking plenty of water will improve your skin’s appearance and help towards clearing up pesky spots. There are many different opinions on how much water we should be drinking every day. The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, or about 2 litres per day.
TIP 4: Stop Lips from Drying Out

These cost-effective, 30-minute treatments allow our trained therapists to address your top skin concern. Our Lip Renewal service will sSoothe, condition and restore your lips and soften fine lines.
TIP 5: Eat 5 x Fruit & Vegetables Per Day for Great Skin
Improve the appearance of your skin, hair and nails by eating at least five portions of fruit and veg every day. According to NHS advice, fresh, frozen, canned, dried and juiced fruit and vegetables all count towards your five portions. Aim for at least five portions (a total of 400g) of a variety of fruit and vegetables each day. Dried fruit, fruit/vegetable juices and smoothies can cause tooth decay, so should only be eaten or drunk as part of a meal, and not as a between-meal snack.
