Will a French-Girl Fringe Suit Me?

Fringes are usually a softening feature so they suit most people. The only situation where they don’t is where the area of the forehead to the hair line is not very high and a fringe could have the effect of closing in the face too much. But even then, in some cases, this can be resolved by making the fringe wider. Check out our quick guide on what fringe suits your face shape below…

Long and narrow faces: This look should work well on you, as fringes that hit just below the brows will make your face look fuller.

Round or square faces: Fringes can make circular faces appear even wider, so finding the right shape is key. Ask for a graphic, curved style that will flatter bone structure. The thicker the better, as wispy versions will have less impact.

Heart-shaped faces: Jackpot! You’re the lucky ones and can get away with pretty much everything. But if you want something definitive, the ideal style is layered and feathered – perfect for the French-Girl look.

Your French-Girl Fringe Consultation at Our Top Birmingham Salon

When describing this cut, bring a picture or screenshot along to your appointment at our Birmingham hair & beauty salon, so you and your HUSH stylist can be on the same page – after all, one person’s ‘long’ is another person’s ‘shaggy’ is another person’s ‘sexy.’

Bear in mind, though, that during your complimentary consultation at HUSH, your stylist will access your face shape and hair type to ensure that a ‘French girl fringe’ is for you.

How To Style Your New French-Girl Fringe

Once you have your very own French-girl fringe, it’s time to style it. While French women tend to be pretty low maintenance when it comes to their hair, sometimes fringes need a little extra work.

If you want to wear your fringe wavy, there’s not much you have to do. First, shampoo and condition with a quality Shampoo and Conditioner (your HUSH stylist will recommend the best products for your individual hair type). Then, gently towel-dry your hair and spritz it with a finishing spray. Let your hair air dry to create those beachy waves that look effortlessly chic.

Want to wear your French-girl Fringe smooth and sleek? Start in the shower by using a Keratin infused Shampoo and Conditioner. After you’re done showering, apply a smoothing hair cream that also offers heat protection. Blow-dry your hair -and your fringe, with a round brush to create movement. To up the volume on your fringe use a roller. Finish with a quick spritz of hairspray and you’re good to go.

Did you know? You can now get 3 Redken products for the price of 2 at Hush Hair & Beauty Salon in Birmingham.  Choose from a wide range of high quality products and you will receive the cheapest item free. If you are unsure which product is right for your hair, ask your stylist for advice.  We are always happy to help you with your hair needs.

Top Tips For Looking After Your French-Girl Fringe

Get Regular Trims at HUSH: To create that effortless French vibe, your HUSH stylist will leave the ends of your new fringe feathery as opposed to blunt. With any kind of Fringe, you’re looking at regular trims at our Birmingham salon in order to keep their shape, so keep that in mind.

Stock Up On Dry Shampoo: There’s no doubt that you’ll be touching and playing with your fringe a lot, especially at the beginning, which will just produce some extra oiliness.

Think of Justin Lee-Collins and imagine him with almost butt-length hair. Got it? Well that's what my mane looks like. It's a nightmare to style and many hairdressers have struggled with it over the years, making me a nervous client. I have had some spectacular bodge jobs over the years from the likes of Nicky Clarke and Toni and Guy salons - we are talking full-on wedge and wonky disasters to make even Emma Watson cringe (she's beautiful but will someone stop letting her niece/nephew loose with the scissors??). After discovering HUSH my prayers were finally answered. Chris is a Steve Irwin of hair-styling; able to tame my hair and wrestle it into submission with apparent ease. Not only does he transform me from Mick Hucknall to Beyonce in about 45 minutes, but he manages to cut a style that always sits nicely - even after I have faffed with it at home (I am about as competent at hair styling as Theresa May is with negotiating). Can't recommend him highly enough - if you want a stunning cut that will turn head for weeks no matter your own level of hair styling competency - Chris is your man.

Great salon, friendly staff, good value - you get what you pay for. I usually have Chris who is an amazing stylist and perfectionist. He was booked up (unsurprisingly) when I made a late request for an appointment, so was booked in with Charlotte. She is a lovely friendly chatty person who again did an amazing job on my hair and did exactly what I asked for.

I visited Hush on Tuesday 27 March 2018 without an arranged appointment and was delighted with the quality of the cut and styling received from Michael. I also had a camo wash applied to hide the 'middle age' grey bits which worked really well. Great service and expertise. well done will def be returning.

James and the colourists have been doing my hair for a while now, I love to just give them free rain to do whatever they like. Never been disappointed or unsatisfied with the results and they have tried quite a few cuts and colours over the last 10 and a bit years! I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Top stylists, top colourists, and top service all in a great salon.

I moved here from Canada 3 years ago and searched for 2 years to find a hairstylist as good as the one I had back home. A friend had recommended Hush. The moment I met Chris, I knew he was going to be good. I've never been so pleased and always look forward to my visit with him too! He is absolutely fabulous and more importantly my husband loves that I'm happy with my hair.
